Hello. This is the shortest Gene Pool in the storied history of Gene Pools.
Police in Altoona Pennsylvania have apprehended a man who they think may be the Insurance Assassin. He is in custody and undergoing questioning. Identified by a sharp eyed bystander, the suspect was confronted and detained at a McDonald’s. He is said to have had a gun similar to the one used in the murder, and a fake New Jersey identification card similar to the one presented to the hostel in which the killer is believed to have stayed.
This is very preliminary information, and may collapse. But just to get ahead of it, today’s emergency Gene Pool Gene Poll.
That’s it. Send Questions and Observations here.
See you tomorrow.
Okay, this is Gene, four hours later. As you probably know by now, Luigi Mangione, the suspect, was found with a handwritten manifesto against insurance companies. So, he’s the guy AND none of the above poll choices may be right. While he still might well have a personal grievance, it is also possible that he may be primarily an ideologue. A Ted Kaczynski.
If he got caught and was not further away than Altoona I think we can rule out professional (or at least competent) hit.
So glad it looks like they have the suspect. Revolting that he was being "Celebrated" in social media. Sick.
