I was also thinking Oddjob with some “Kingpin” thrown in on one of his DNA strands.

Too bad Edward R. wasn't available for this election. It's the 70th anniversary this year of his famous "See It Now" TV takedown of Joseph McCarthy.

“This is no time for men who oppose Senator McCarthy's methods to keep silent ‐ or for those who approve. We can deny our heritage and our history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result. ... We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom ‐ what's left of it but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home. The actions of the junior Senator from Wisconsin have caused alarm and dismay amongst our allies abroad and given considerable comfort to our enemies. And whose fault is that? Not really his. He didn't create this situation of fear. He merely exploited it, and rather successfully. Cassius was right: “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but In ourselves.’

“Good night, and good luck.”

I'm okay with getting the brief daily updates. But the headline really had me hoping it was something like news of a well-placed heart attack or timely lightning strike. Something to suggest to the credulous that G-d does not approve of certain impending events (as well as directly preventing inauguration, as the oath of office cannot be repeated by the recently deceased).

Don't insult Zippy, Jim. He has more sense than either Cheung or Ramirez.

Well, I assume Stephen "Odd Job" Cheung's head will explode or he will go into a cartoon Tasmanian Devil-like death spiral and be replaced quickly.

I would suggest Gene put a keyword in all of these updates; then you, and anyone else who doesn't want them, can set up an email filter to automatically send them to your trash.

Forcing people to take action against an unwanted change made to a paid subscription list seems ... unwise. If you're not paying for something, you're the product. If you're paying, you're the customer. If you're the customer, you get a vote. I voted no. I like the frequency of email now, don't want more. Sure, I can filter -- but not everyone understands filters -- and some people may not have that facility. This debate is silly -- he asked for votes, now I'll mute this thread and see what happens.

I voted yes.

I would also have chosen "yes, if it helps"

I am DELIGHTED to get more laughs each day, the few curmudgeons can delete at the mailbox. Wtaf is wrong with getting MORE of something so good?? Not pandering, I bet I’m part of the 99%.

I'm all in, Gene. A mere flip of a finger or two is all you need to delete. I enjoy the posts more than I enjoy the finger flip. Well, I guess that depends on which finger and who it is pointed at. There are so many candidates since the election.

It occurs to me that Trump is using a rather devious method to get the REAL villains in power. By nominating these "less than qualified" people he is setting up a puppet show. The clowns take the questions, make the speeches, but in the background the folks who gave us the 2025 Plan are busy writing the scripts and directing actions. The puppet is the "useful idiot" and the assistants (and Trump) have deniability. Watch this closely.

I think you give Trump credit for intelligence he doesn't have. He doesn't understand what "qualified" means, and wouldn't know these people are not. He's never had to have qualifications for anything. His narcissism sees only if they agree with and flatter him (qualified for anything) or not (qualified for nothing). It's a hole in his arguably 6th grade education, because our concept of that word hasn't appeared in his reality.

And, I'm not sure even Trump knows this is what is happening.

Go ahead and send stuff. I already get so much that I do not ask for that it is like one more rain drop in a storm. And I can let Yahoo do the work for me if I want. But I like to know. Trump can get his "team" together. And we will see what they do.
