After watching the Ford-Carter snippet, what struck me (beyond his insistence that Eastern Europe was not USSR dominated) was that Ford was well spoken and that the debate seemed to be measured, dignified, and almost quaint compared to todays shoutfests.
I’ve never coveted my neighbors or their house etc because I’ve never lived next door to anyone hot and their apartment, then townhouse then single family were just like mine. As for honoring parents I never thought being a usual sometimes snotty kid counted. I actually was pretty nice to them compared to my brother. But I think I missed one and should have said 4.
And for those whose lobes are intact (or who don't want to risk putting less-than-solid-gold wires through their piercings, I can include a little clip that has a tiny ring. You drop the wire into the ring, then clip the clip around your earlobe. I've been wearing these earrings this way, since my ears aren't pierced,
Hmm. I’m finding a bunch on Amazon now that I know to look for them. Thanks, I’ll pass it along as an idea rather than get them as a gift so she doesn’t feel obligated to wear them all day, just in case.
Well, her metal allergies mean Temu probably isn’t an option. There are some pure gold or silver options out there… probably not bags full for $1.79, admittedly.
Another aptonym from yesterday's (6-26) WaPo Food section: "Remembering a giant of winemaking whose influence and excellence live on": Warren Winiarski, whose surname is derived from the Polish for winemaker. [He studied political science and social thought and came later to winemaking.]
I used to bear false witness occasionally, but I have made a conscious effort not to do so for the past near-40 years. Which doesn't mean going out of my way to be mean. A little spin on an unpleasant truth -- one that was requested -- is okay and leaves room to learn that what I thought to be true, may not be.

Chevy Chase talking about his roasting Ford: to them he represented a continuation of war policy.
MUST say I couldn’t vote in the poll, all of those winners/Losers made me 😂. 👏👏👏👏
One more from me: Jesse, another guffaw.
Good: Dad wearing the new socks you got him.
Bad: With sandals.
Ugly: And nothing else. (Jesse Frankovich)
Dire Straits/knoefler one of the best ever. Had to say it.
So now Lizzie Borden jokes are accepted?

Just want to say this week's prize is spectacular.

And you didn't disclose this! They are now even more valuable, having been worn by an empress.
How comfortable are those (or not)? Asking for a wife who makes earrings but up to now hasn’t been able to wear them.
For me they're good for about 2-3 hours. Good enough for the Loser brunch, not all day.
I have ONE pair of clip earrings that I can wear all day. I've had them for about 20 years.

I got a bag of them on Temu, maybe 5 pairs, for like 1.79.

Stags Leap! Quite the proper aptonym.
