Well, he’s not bad, but I don’t think he has what it takes other than he is in a critical state. I think Mark Kelly of Arizona is a better pick. Fighter pilot, astronaut, businessman, husband of Gabby Gifford. Name recognition and service. Arizona is critical too. Or how bout Gov. Shapiro of Pa. Another important state with a lot of electoral votes.

Kelly would be my choice for president. He has a good voting record, is moderate in his views, doesn't piss anyone off, and he's a national hero - all things that might win people over who are on the fence AND might help those Trump supporters who might weigh the Orange Traffic Cone against someone who has done positive things in his life.

We need the Democrats to keep control of the Senate. Brown is in a tough reelection race right now. Not sure if he can be on the ballot twice. But even if he can, if he wins, he's out of the Senate and Ohio's Republican governor gets to name his replacement. And the Democrats are unlikely to win Ohio anyway. Mark Kelly would at least be replaced by a governor who's a Democrat, but who knows how a special election would go? No such issues with Shapiro - and it might boost Democrats chances of taking Pennsylvania.

Should be Sheldon Whitehouse, in support of aptonyms everywhere.

I recommend Former Governer Larry Hogan. And before you say the obvious ... that's the point! A true unity ticket! And besides, if he accepted the nomination, it would make me happier about the Maryland Senate race.

On Hogan...I am a Maryland State employee and he actively kept the minimum wage down, was against sick leave for everyone the union didn't represent (our union has a lot of pull here), hates paid family leave. He didn't actively fight against abortion rights, but voted against women's health - a bill to support the expansion of women's clinics in places where there is no public healthcare, essentially choosing to threaten the lives of everyone in a remote county so women who needed abortions had to raise enough money for both an abortion AND travel to get to one. He vetoed funding for better training of medical professionals to serve in remote areas, again, with the idea that if there are medical professionals in Podunk, women can get abortions, rather than seeing fewer people dying in Podunk of overdoses. He tried to cut education funding to the poorest counties - I see a pattern here. As state employees, we're finally getting pay raises and COLAs after years of nothing - he told us if we cut our budgets, we'd get raises, then announced that we had $80M left over and 'put off the pay raises' he had promised until he was about to leave office, hoping the last minute raise would make him look good for a senate run. Not a huge fan.

"And not just because he has my hair. " Well, just go ask for it back. After the election, of course -- let him keep it til then.

It probably looks better on him than on you.

No! Ohio voters could well replace him with a Republican. We can’t afford to lose one Dem in the Senate.

One problem: Sherrod's senate seat would then be up for grabs in a red state. No, Beshear is the standard issue white guy-from-central-casting to complement the ticket, but I'm really warming to the idea of a two-woman ticket. Harris and Whitmer could really wipe the floor with Trump and Vance and really galvanize things - women's marches across the country!

No. Brown is running for reelection, and he’s a rare Democrat who has won statewide in Ohio recently as that state has gone off the deep end. It’s 100% certain that a Republican would take that seat if he took the VP slot. It’s already a rough year in the Senate and you absolutely do not give that seat away.

A good point, Dave. I will address that on Tuesday. With aplomb.

The Republicans are, as usual, behaving like jerks. Biden may not be able to govern till 2029, but that doesn’t mean he needs to resign the presidency now. The R’s want to get rid of him so Harris has less time to campaign. Also, she’s more likely to do something they can attack if she’s in the WH.

I live in Ohio. I want to keep Sherrod Brown as my Senator. Were he to become VP, our GOP governor, Mike Dewine, would appoint another extremist Republican and then we in Ohio would be screwed. My first pick would be Senator Tammy Duckworth from Illinois. At least Gov Pritzker is a Democrat and would appoint a Democrat to fill her seat. Duckworth has a distinguised record of government and military service. She is a war hero as well as a wounded warrior. She is a working mother. She understands and demonstrates compassion for the many marginalized groups among the electorate. She supports reproductive freedom. And I love that she coined the name "Cadet Bone Spurs" for Drumpf

She could pick Joe Biden, since everyone claims the VP doesn't do anything.

No. It's Beshear from Ky. He would be attractive to the South and maybe the Midwest. Brown is too liberal. Shapiro isn't ready or maybe the country isn't ready for Shapiro. Whoever it is has to be anti-woke, talk dirty, campaign dirty, have the character of a Kujo attack dog, look like a Norman Rockwell model, and attract a lot of money.

Why not really shake things up- go with Liz Cheney as VP. Give all of the non-MAGGOTS a reason to vote for Dems.
